Sleepy Head?

I took this when we got home from our Michigan City trip. Eric has been so zonked after working such long days that even on the weekends he's been ready for bead by 8:00! I'm hoping the job is starting to calm down some so that he can get a little bit of sanity back and enjoy himself a little more instead of having to think about work all the time.
Sunday (Eric's idea!) we went to the next town over where there is a mall. He wanted to check out some new sunglasses and I wasn't about to object to him wanting to go shopping! We went and shopped a little while at the mall and Dick's sporting goods. Eric offered to buy me a new pair of running shorts and shirt if I would start working out with him again. We found out that through our apartment complex that we are able to join a gym across the street for $15 for the both of us. I think it will help me pass the time and help Eric blow off some stress. We had a good little shopping trip and Eric offered to take me to dinner. There is a Cracker Barrel here but I settled for Olive Garden. I think every time we go we always order the soup and salad. It only makes sense because you end up getting full on the salad before your food comes anyway.
I picked these flowers Saturday night when we got home. I hope the apartment complex people don't mind. They are still blooming and make our living room seem a little more homey!

Michigan City is to Indiana: as: Kansas City is to Missouri

On Saturday evening, Eric and I got in the car and drove north. He had seen a truck at a dealership and wanted to check it out (they were asking way too much) but we kept driving anyway and ended up finding our way to Michigan City, which is in Indiana not Michigan, which is right on Lake Michigan and has a huge port and marina with lots of boats. We decided to eat at this restaurant which had a huge outside deck as you can see in the picture of Eric. The weather was great and it made me wish we had a boat; there were plenty of people who had obviously been out on theirs all day long. It also made me miss all of our friends in Manhattan who we love to go to the lake with!
With our bellies full we decided to take a walk down to the marina and check out the boats. (And if I would have known we were going to go out in public I would have put my contacts in and dressed up a little better!)
There were quite a few sailboats that looked like fun (and is something I want to do sometime soon that I get an opportunity) and many HUGE boats that probably cost more than our house! Eric and I had a few picked out...most of his had fishing poles on the back.

Here we are waiting for the road to go back down! There was a whole line of boats waiting to go through to dock. There were some condos here where people could dock their boats and walk up to their house. However, every time the bridge raised a bell would go off that would drive me insane. Eric and I both decided the lure of having a place so close to the lake would be lost with the annoying sound of the bell all day long!

Check out the 'STACHE!

The other day, Eric decided he wanted to start growing out his mustache. He was pretty excited about it so I figured I'd better take a picture and document the killer 'stache. (I do have to note that he made sure to make me point out that this picture is of him unhappy to still be at work.) I have recently discovered that if this job doesn't work out for Eric, he has a very promising career in songwriting. He has a couple of songs he likes to sing, "I love sandwiches" and "I love salads" (to the same tune as "I love sandwiches") and he even came up with one about his new mustache. It's a pretty exciting new prospect for him! :)
Check out the cool clouds I saw yesterday! I don't think it ended up raining overnight but it sure looked like it could. Overall, the weather has been wonderful here and has just started to really heat up the past couple of days.

Let's go racing boys!

Saturday Eric and Kevin (co-worker) decided that we would be going to the NASCAR race in Milwaukee. It was a pretty spur of the moment decision but we hopped in the car and got on our way. We should have planned our route better though because a trip that should have taken around 2 hours took us at least 4! We drove right through Chicago and hit traffic the entire way! Needless to say, we were pretty excited to get there! Below is a picture of me and the guy who's house we parked at. He lived right across the street from the racetrack and was standing right out in the road with his flag trying to get people to pull in. He told us the story of how he broke his foot ("runnin after his old lady for a cigarette, and he was sober when he did it!") I just couldn't let this photo-opp go by. He had told us before the race he'd quit drinking for 2 days but when we got back out, he told us he was 2 - 12 packs deep. Nice.

Good thing we brought our ear plugs! We had a great time!
Edwards was the winner of the race. I was rooting for the Go Daddy car because it was painted pretty until Eric pointed out to me that there was a Long John Silvers car! I rooted for that one all the way but no luck.
Needless to say I was the one who drove us home; Kevin had a good time. It was a really long day, we got home at 2:00. But it was a lot of fun and nice to get out of town for the day.

Our new tats!

While Eric and I were sitting on the couch watching TV, he decided that he needed to hold me down and give me this "tattoo". Apparently I love KU before him (Hey, he wrote it!) I almost forgot to wash it off before we went to the store but luckily I remembered... I couldn't let Eric feel left out without a tattoo of his own so I made sure he got one too. I do have to say, I may have a new calling as a tattoo artist! I'd justs give everyone this one and there'd be a lot of people out there who love me!
After our tattoo fun we went shopping. Eric had been wanting to check out the Menards here, which is like a Home Depot and Walmart all rolled into one. We looked around there for a while and then shopped a few other places. Can you believe it, I didn't buy one thing! (maybe I'm saving up for a new pair of shoes, ;)

My favorite!

After Eric picked me up from the airport we saw a sign for Cracker Barrel, one of my favorite places to eat! Eric was so happy to see me that he took me here! I was pretty excited.

Runs in the family

When I posted the pictures of Eric and I with the cow, mom told me about this picture she had of herself. Yesterday, she found it and I felt like I should post it! I guess I really do take after her! :)

I have passed the cLUmSy torch on.

I used to be the clumsiest member of the family but Logan recently took that title away from me. He slipped and fell on some wet rock and broke his arm. Aparently I missed out because Logan and mom got to spend the night in the ER. We found out yesterday that he won't need surgery (yay!), but he has this cool sling to wear for a while! ...I don't think he's had a shirt on since he fell and I'm interested to see how that goes...

Finally, some pictures!

This is from Saturday when we went out on the lake. We had to stop at Arbys for lunch so we had plenty of energy on the lake! We had a great time with Kelly and Brennan.
I'm pretty excited to be sitting between the two ornery men on the plane!
This is Kevin, the superintendant on Eric's job. He's from Topeka so we all flew back together.

We're in Kansas

Friday Eric and I flew into Kansas. Our flight was delayed about 45 minutes so that was kind of a hassle but it was nice to get back. We ended up meeting up with Eric's roommate on Friday night and going out to Power and Light district. It was nice to get to see those friends again! Saturday we drove up to Manhattan and went out on the lake with Kelly and Brennan some other friends. It ended up being a great day to be on the lake (and I have pictures to post soon). After the lake we drove up to Clay Center and have been spending time with Eric's family. It has been nice to be back and to see everyone! I haven't quite had a chance to get my pictures uploaded yet but they will be coming soon!

Home sweet temporary home!

Yesterday we finally got to move out of the hotel! Yay! We found this apartment, which is completely furnished (very nice, even has towels and sheets). It is definitely not my taste in decorating sense, (as you should be able to tell!) but it is much better having more space and not feeling like I'm just sitting in bed all day long. This first picture is how lovely it looked when I got the car unloaded (all by myself!).
Here's the kitchen/dining room. Here's the main bedroom. There's a bathroom connected and two closets! I need to go shopping to fill mine up! ;) (Notice the lovely floral bedspread!) Here's the living room, the least floral room of them all. The apartment even furnished the TV, which is wonderful. And there is plenty of sitting room for visitors (hint hint). Plus there's a guest room for overnight visitors (hint hint).
These were on the bedside table...I'm not sure what would make someone buy these, let alone display them. They kinda creeped me out. I put them in the closed shortly after this picture was taken!
