Like I could escape goin here...

Yesterday we went to eat at a Mexican restaurant in town. It was really pretty good but we had to call Kelly to interpret some of the menu. Today we drove up to Portage to the Bass Pro Shop, and amazingly made it out of the store without a thing! I was pretty surprised that Eric couldn't find one thing he needed. We ended up eating at the restaurant in the store though, which was really good.
Eric was pretty excited when we got here. Probably the highlight of his week!
I'm pretty tough, riding in on my 4-wheeler.
Something about a duffel bag that was bigger than me just looked funny. I think we should get this to go hiking with and Eric can just carry me around!
Eric was pleased with is choice.
This was the bar at the restaurant was awesome. Eric and I think we need one of these for our future house. (Although there were no Nemo fish)

Movin on up

Today we finally got the OK to get an apartment! Eric's boss came into town yesterday and got us all set up with the apartment and we get to move in on Monday! Yay! Last night, we went out to eat with Mark, Eric's boss. He was very nice and seems like he'll make a good boss for Eric. I'll post pictures when I get them of our new place!

Fun in the sun

Yesterday Eric and I went up to Lake Michigan. We had a good time hanging out at the beach and exploring some of the dunes. It was very pretty but quite a bit colder than we expected! We learned to check the weather where we're going before we leave! (There was almost a 20 degree difference!) It was nice to have the day to hang out and have fun without Eric having to work! I've posted a few pictures but there are lots more!

We wrote our names in the sand and then half a minute after I took this the waves washed it away.

Getting some sun.
Say cheese.
Eric was looking for skipping rocks to throw.
The water was cold!

One stop shop

This one is for dad. Apparently, they sell fireworks year round at Wal-Mart and at Target (in the dollar spot no less). Eric and I ran to Wal Mart and saw this wonderful display. This is truly one stop shopping!
Last night Eric and I went to eat at a steakhouse (very yummy) but we had to make sure to take our picture with the big cow out front! The people driving by thought we were cool.

Movie Night

Last night we rented the movie Taken. I watched it, and Eric fell asleep. (I would recommend it) I got him to take this picture with me but he wouldn't retake one with a shirt on - I promise he's not naked.

Today we went to look at an apartment! Yay! Eric's boss told him to look for an apartment to live in if he wanted. It turned out to be the same complex that Eric's co-worker is living at so we will know one of our neighbors. The apartment is completely furnished, even has dishes and towels! We should be able to get out of this hotel on Tuesday.

We are definitely missing home - we were talking about how we wished we could be back on the lake with friends this weekend but now that we will have a spare bedroom, everyone will have to come visit us!

I'm spoiled

Yesterday I realized how spoiled I was living in our appartment in Manhattan and at home. The entire time I lived in Manhattan, we had a washer/dryer at home. Yesterday, I got so lucky as to get to go to the laundromat. Surprisingly, I've never been to a laundromat! Apparently, there are some interesting folks who hang out at these places...And apparently I should split my loads in the dryer or I get to sit there FOREVER with these interesting people, waiting on the clothes to dry. I suppose I get to learn something everyday!

This is why I'm marrying him

Last night I decided to make fajitas because we had leftover peppers and onions from our omelet adventure. I had gone to the store and got all the supplies and when I started cooking, realized I didn't have a can opener. Eric volunteered to pick one up on his way back from work, and came back with this as well. It was a little gesture that really meant a lot. (Plus, can you see him looking through the magazines to pick this out!)

Hard Working Man

Here's a picture of Eric's work site. Looks like there's a lot left to be done!

By the way, I forgot to say earlier, the weather here has been wonderful so far (except for the 38 degree weather we had to greet us when we got here so early in the morning). And, the wind smells like flowers for some reason, which is quite pleasant.

We're In Indiana

So as most of you probably know, Eric and I are spending the summer in Indiana. Eric got a new job with MW Builders and has been staying busy working on an apartment complex in Valparaiso. After flying back for graduation weekend, Eric and I drove up to Indiana. We took off from KC around 8:00 and got to Valparaiso at 5:00 in the morning! It made for a looooong night. Eric drove most of the way and we switched and I drove the last leg. The route we took is probably one we won't take again; it took us through the very rural parts of Illinois and Indiana. I wish it would have been light out because I imagine it would have been much prettier.
Thankfully, Eric's employer is paying for his cost of living, but this has landed us in a hotel room, which has turned out to be quite interesting. A little bit like living back in the dorms only without the Derb (dining center).

This is a picture from the doorway of our hotel room.

This is a picture of our kitchen/bathroom. Eric got an electric skillet and it has definitely come in handy. We made omelets last night and smelled the whole place up like bacon.

Here's the living room. It's a pull-out couch for anyone wanting to come visit!
